J. Nycole Ralph is a mogul in the making. She’s not only a dancer, singer, and actress, she’s also a creator, writer, and producer. Ralph recently made her long-awaited Broadway debut in the hit musical Book of Mormon. But her debut did not come without a bit of a delay. In fact, by the time the offer was made, she had stopped auditioning and took on a full-time job outside the industry. Her self-imposed two-year hiatus allowed her time to focus on the creation of her own passion project, Working Out the Kinks, which tells the story of an aspiring actress who is navigating the world of auditioning and dealing with the challenges of how she’s perceived because of her natural hair.

Listen in as she shares how frustration with her career led her to take a bit of a detour which still brought her full circle to achieving her Broadway dreams.

We also chat about her hesitation to share her achievement, our hometown connection, hair struggles in the business, separating fear from wisdom and so much more!
